Develop the ability to spin and dip your partner with ease, or find the confidence to step onto the dance floor and move your body with poise and grace. Whatever your skill level and goals, we have programs suited for your needs and instructors who will help you develop into the social dancer you’ve always wanted to be.
East Coast Swing
Developed in the 1940s, the vivacious East Coast Swing is based upon the Lindy Hop. This rhythmic and adaptable dance can be performed with a partner or individually, socially, competitively, or even choreographed for performances. The East Coast Swing is the perfect beginner’s Swing dance, and will establish the basic swing tempo and movements. It doesn’t require exceptional strength or flexibility like the acrobatic Lindy Hop, and therefore is suited to dancers of all ages and skill levels. This high-spirited dance will have you skipping, rocking, and twisting the night away on the dance floor.
Hustle
If you’ve ever dreamt of dancing at the famed Studio 54, the Hustle is the perfect dance for you. The central dance in the 1970s disco era and made famous by Saturday Night Fever, you’ll be surprised how quickly you pick up the clever footwork and groovy moves of this unique nightclub dance. Once you understand the basic steps, swing, shuffle, and slide out on the dance floor and improvise your own moves. It’s a great dance for beginners, or we can help you become a dance club pro.
Lindy Hop
The originator of the Swing dancing movement, the Lindy Hop will have your hopping, flipping, and jumping with joy. Also known as the Jitterbug, this style was developed in New York City by the African American community. The Lindy Hop is typically danced to jazz or big band music. This upbeat and acrobatic dance is constantly evolving, leaving dancers with plenty of room for improvisation and creativity. Dancers typically sport flat, slick-soled shoes for sliding on the dance floor, but any flat shoes that fit securely will do the trick.
Salsa
This evolution of the Salsa is one of the world’s most famous dances. A spicy blend of Caribbean and African influences, Salsa is a fantastic style for dancers just starting out, and challenging enough to keep even pros coming back for more. Advanced dancers will delight in the flourish and excitement of improvisation, while beginners will be pulling off thrilling spins and dips at the nightclub in no time. Everyone can get wrapped up in the sensation that Salsa moves create on the dance floor – especially when you’re at the center of it!
West Coast Swing
Like the East Coast Swing, the West Coast Swing developed from the Lindy Hop but is infused with unique California style. Slick, sexy, and smooth, this partner dance will have you twisting away on the dance floor. The fun of West Coast Swing is improvising and freely moving to the flow of the music. Beginners can easily master its basic steps, while advanced dancers will be enthralled with creating clever tricks and new moves. This sleek dance can be performed with a wide variety of music, from jazz and big band, to disco, or even country.
